First Grade!

Today was the first day of school and Makenna was so excited to be a first grader, new class, new teacher, and most importantly, new playground with handball courts. She has been practicing with her friend who started third grade over the past few months to get her prepped. She has three of her good buds from her kindergarten class in her class this year (one being the boy that she likes..already started) and her teacher is wonderful. Makenna said the best thing about first grade is handball and inside it was that her teacher read them a story. So the first day was great, let's hope it continues through the rest of the year!

A super birthday

For my birthday we started off swimming and having a yummy BBQ and birthday cake with our friends, the Balls, and then we headed to Irwindale speedway to watch the races. I worry about taking our kids places because Gunner can't sit still and Gage usually screams all the time (I have to say he is getting better though) but the kids LOVED it. They got $1 hot dogs and sodas (Cory liked that, too)and we climbed up the bleachers to watch the race. Gunner thought the red race car was the real Lightning McQueen so he was so excited he was shaking, so cute..makes it all worth it. Gage did not make a peep the entire night. He stood on our laps until 10 o'clock just watching the cars(another birthday gift no crying). Makenna had a blast being with her pals and dancing to the music. It was a fun trip to top off a great day!

Girls' Trip to Magic Mountain

Makenna got a free ticket to use at Magic Mountain this summer for completing a reading program at school and since Dad had to work and the boys are to little for the "big rides" Makenna and I went girls only. It was great because we rarely get to do things without her brothers and when Cory is around we tend to go places as a family. So, we dropped the boys off with Grandma so they could go to Jack in the Box (Gunner was so excited) and we headed to the park. Makenna loved the water rides, especially Tidal Wave(I think we rode it 5 times)and loved getting soaked! Since it was midweek the lines were not too long on the smaller rides that she was tall wnough for, so we rode a lot, got frozen lemonade and had fun hanging out together.

Scooter's Jungle

My kids love Scooter' Jungle, so when Ashley and her fam called us to go we were so happy! They had a deal going on so it was $5 a kid for a couple hours (well worth it to be in the AC). Makenna and Gunner loved it and even Gage went down the slide with me a few times. Gunner liked the zip line but after he caught my DIAMOND earring and it fell out I stopped helping him on that one (and luckily I found it). It was fun and so good to see our friends who, even though they don't live too far away, we don't get the chance to see very often.

Our Beach Trip

I have been so behind on pictures and blogging. We decided to change bedrooms and put the boys in Makenna's larger room and move her into our toy/office/crap room before she realized it was a smaller room and before school starts..we barely made it! Anyway, we have done a lot this summer and went a lot of places. A few weeks ago we went to Point Dume with some friends from church. I was a little hestitant to go w/o Cory but it turned out great. The weather was beautiful and the beach was very nice. The kids had fun in the water and building in the sand, and Gage did not cry the whole time we were there-World record for him! The kids got to see dolphins so that just made the trip. The picture of Gage covered in sand and food is so disgusting but I love it because he did not care. He was so content...if we could have only brought that attitude home! HIs teeth crack me up too, poor kid has huge teeth. My other kids already call his teeth "his grill". Well, more pics to come but dinner isn't going to make itself!
